DON'T BUY Universal Audio Plugins? Or are they 🔥again?
Is it time to take advantage of Universal Audio's Native UADx and Spark plugin collection? Or maybe just pick a few select ones. Let's discuss the case of Universal Audio and also test some amazing plugins, such as Sound City Studios, Hitsville Chambers, 1176, LA-2A, Distressor and Capital Mastering Compressor. And there is more... Lots to talk about.

And one error in this video: I said that Spark includes Native and Apollo versions. That's not true. Spark only refers to Native plugins, and is the subscription that includes all Native plugins. Even if same plugin exists in Apollo format, you'd still have to buy it. BUT - This is something that should be corrected in my opinion.

Do you need a DI Box for Bass & Guitar - Interface enough?
They're still holding some of the best ones to DSP only which is annoying. Ampex 102, ocean way, c-vox, etc. Hopefully they port all over to native soon.
Thanks for the video. SLAP IT is an awesome book by the way! Tony Oppenheim is a bass hero and should be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame just because of that one book! 👍
DON"T BUY UAD!!! they are a terrible company they will make you file police reports and treat your stolen plugins like hardware and still not help you get your products back DON"T BUY THEM!!! if your pc gets hacked and you lose them that's it you could lose thousands.
first learn to speak correctly punctually and then make reviews, are you some kind of danish comedian trying to be funny here ? Regarding the floating point you don't know what you are talking about dude, these plugins are processed internally and in fact they are 32 bit and in fact they oversample the signal x8 with 8 latency because this is handled internally :D So you don't have to gain stage properly in DAW in order to avoid clipping..... ahahahahah so funny. If you don't want to be part of their ecosystem, then just go with another brand. Making a review that you will return their interface, because you don't want to be part of some ecosystem is funny :D
Mine said, 'Made In Japan' 😊
Agree about the inability to resize but if you use the 360 software it doesn't matter. 😎
now we can resize actually :)! They are listening..lol...
All solid choices!! The Townhouse is on my master buss for every project. Black Box is my #1 saturator. Elysia Phils Cascade is another cool saturator on PA. The AMEK 9099 is a workhorse channel strip. I could say it would be my #1 if I could only have one. Of course I have a few others that I like depending on the source material but the 9099 and AMEK 200 are two awesome channel strips with everything most ppl need.
Won’t show track color in logic. Terrible.
Good audio interface. Does it have UAD 1176 LN compressor.
they have their own version which is called FET-A76 - you can find it in the Antelope Software store.
Hi, great video. How do you get track names on UC1?
UC1 picks up the track names automatically - but there's a setting in Logic that I always have activated - if I recall correctly.
I just got a new apple silicon mac and since i lost my Waves plugins i bought for my older mac , i will pick this up to replace my old waves stuff. A true bargain!
right?
yea, I tried the demo, this sht is different, im getting knock out of this clipper no other clipper is giving me...
for real!
I have the iCon Pro X and love it, so I know this is a banger!
nice!!!
I have been looking at them. and kind worried about build quality. Look at button #3 up top. its messed up. lol. i have the platform M and its ok.. so prob should not worry so much.
thanks for sharing this!
Wow. Just get this and forget about it
Right???
Does this work with WMR too?
Thank you for this! I would like to ask you how in the world did you get the plugin interface to open up by selecting a channel on the UF8 (2:20)? This is a feature I am really longing for and you just did this..how?? Appreciate if you can take time to answer please. :)
hi - this worked by putting the plugin (SSL2 or B for example on the first plugin slot in Logic. Then also, the purple link, in the plugin must be activated. Hope this helps.
The way he says streamer at 6:39 lmao
that's my acting background kicking in :) :)
Don’t you have to record from the drum machine first or does it have pre-recorded drums on it?
you could - but it has many styles and beats already built in.
how do you record the sound of your amplug?
Headphone output to H6 Zoom recorder (line input)
Thanks for the video! Is there any way you can touch any of the faders on any channel and it will automatically select the channel, exactly what you did here, but in Ableton?
That's a good question - I have not used Ableton in a while, but might have something to do with the settings in Ableton as well when it receives control surface commands.
I just want to use one earphone and don't want to be tired of switching devices all the time depending on the type of music. I listen to 80% classical and 20% jazz and pop. I have also seen the mm500 so far, and I think the instrument part is quite good, and the vocals are in the front, so the female voice sounds good. Do you recommend other headphones at this level? I think the sound field of the mm500 is okay. For classical music, the instrument tone is not too modified. , the low-frequency dive is enough for jazz. I don’t know if I understand this right?
Yes - if you are an audiophile, you might like this headphone too, but keep in mind it is designed for mixing and mastering engineers to make our job easier. Reveal flaws, not over accentuate certain areas, or make things sound prettier. At the same time it is not designed to be extremely flat, because we need some help identifying problems. They also react very well to EQ and crossfeed (which is what I sue them with), and the results are stellar. I think you can't go wrong with these headphones - and it will come down to personal taste - with others in that price category. I am currently testing teh Heddphone TWO, so stand by for those results.

I want to buy one
Are these gadgets still on the market
there are the new models ME-80 etc, and beyond. These two here are best found on Reverb.com and Ebay.
@@massivebeatzz Thank you so much..Is it possible to ship from the site directly to Africa
that was very well explained! do we have any info regarding the CPU? I still believe standard clip is very low sourced, but actually never compared it . btw the song is dope!!!!! love it
You;I use it on an M1 Max Macbook Pro, running a long mastering chain, (16x) when mastering and when I insert it on tracks I set it to 8x. I have, and love SIR StandarClip, which can be as heavy or light on the CPU as one wants. But neither plugin has jumped my cpu usage noticeably...
I bouhgt Discrete Pro 4 SC because I want to record tracks and want to use them in regular mixes later. I was using a lot of cheap souncards like M-Audio, Focusrite Scarlett 4, Onyx 2 from Mackie, Echo Audio - Audiofire 8 and Mackie Onyx 400F. Audiofire and Onyx was FireWire and it was cool but conversion of Discrete Pro 4 Synergy Core is amazing! Onyx 400F came with classic preamps ONYX and they are excellent but DP4SC are very close to them or maybe the same quallity. Yes I had issues with seting-up but mostly because I knew very little about practical aspect of sample rating and clocking of CPU. There was needed stop two setting in BIOS and a few things in device manager. If you do not optimalization - your samples will be probably different even if you set-up the same sample-rate on PC/Mac and soundcard. I can honestly tell you I am very happy! There are so many possibilities with routing - you can connect everything with everything! And much more: using of FXs from Antelope is bliss for you and computer too! everything is computed in the card and your CPU can start to learn smoking because his freedom! 🙂 And there are Antelope modeling mics! Using FXs as native in insert slots (oops, CPU wake up! sorry). There are many very good soundcards in these days. But I am using Discrete 4 for 1,5 year and I am satisfied! (I have no connection with Antelope Audio. This is my posture only.)
Call me crazy, but I use BOTH Knif SOMA + TOMO LISA on the mastering bus. Sounds analogue af like that. =) =) =)
cool. Do you have specific frequency bands where you use one and the other?
@@massivebeatzz May I have your email so I can send a bitmap over? That should illustrate what you're looking for.
What's the realphone plugin you're using?
dSoniq is the maker. Realphones 2.0 right now. Highly recommend.
better than a 60 minute long tutorial. thanks mate
thanks. And I have been guilty of those in the past too 🤣
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know, right?
@@massivebeatzz right!
Is the update ready to use it on Harrison Mixbus 10?
I don't know . I would be careful and ask them.
Is the live recording quantized? Seems like it's out of time when u okay it back
it is - but what you are hearing is swing/shuffl ethat is quite high so it "drags" - and - when syncing Ableton and the TR, there is latency - so once can adjust that in Ableton, so the hardware and software sync up.
Hello, I would like to purchase the motu ultralite MK5 audio interface for use in concerts on a 2023 M2 MacBook Pro, 16GB of Ram and a 512GB SSD hard drive. (free space: 380 GB) I read on the motu website: system requirements for the motu ultralite MK5: a large hard drive (at least 500 GB for recording) Do you need to have 500 GB of free space on the hard drive or just a 500 GB hard drive regardless of the free space left on it? Thanks:)
I imagine ., because they OFFER you some free software (plugins, sounds etc) with the purchase - that is why they want you to have that space. Other wise, MOTU app does not use much space at all, maybe - tiny App. So you are totally fine. They mean 512 GB of hard drive, not free space. I have a 1TB and have 80GB free, on a regular basis... :) Also I tested this on a 256GB macbook Air, a 128GB iPad, and above mentioned 1TB Pro. Same result.
Ok good News🙂 thanks a lot
Where you get drum and instrument loops from? You play midi and bounce ?
these are loops within Logic Pro (library) - they can be used license free.
As of 10.8, you need to hold Option key while saving as default in order to create CSParameterOrder.plist file. It is no longer created automatically. Xcode from Apple also works for editing these files.
How can one reach you? :)
office at massivebeatz dot com (beatz hier mit einem Z). Vielen Dank!
Agreed. Only wish is the case had a handle.
What? That is so cool! Can’t believe I haven’t heard of this. Thanks.
You bet!
one of the best
Can you use two computers with this like the iConnectivity PlayAudio 12? And can you daisy chain two mk5 interfaces together? If so, how?
Not 2 computers - that is not possible - but you could add another interface via ADAT (optical digital connection) theoretically or, via analog cables, since you have several inputs an outputs,. But in that case you may want to buy one Interface and one Adat 8 channel preamp that connects to it. This is what the Adat input is really there for.
Can you play more than one at a time?
Yes - definitely, like any other Midi instruments - just not via the App standalone.
Hey there. I realise this is an old video for you, but it's brand new to me (just came across it today lol). I'm brand new to DI boxes. I actually started looking into them as a means to record a dry signal from my guitar at the same time as a wet signal. But it seems (with my extremely limited knowledge) that is not the main focus of these units, if at all? I have the big brother of the Babyface Pro - a Fireface UFX III. Currently I'm using the AES output of my AxeFx II going into the AES input of the UFX, as I wanted a direct/unaffected signal from the AxeFx, just like using USB for it, but without using USB. I was looking for a way to record a dry signal at the same time. Would this RNDI allow for that scenario? I'm having a hard time finding info because I'm not sure how to even properly phrase a question. So I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask?. Either way, thanks for the video.
Yeah, DI boxes allow you to do that. Most audio interfaces have a DI "box built-in" which they label as a "high-Z" or "instrument" input. With RME, these are top notch. What's important for you is that a DI Box typically has a thru signal where teh DI gets output via the Mic Phantom Output, and the other is just passing the signal through, unaffected. I use this to send one to my guitar amp with FX and all, and the other goes into my audio interface, dry. So - XLR to computer and THRU to guitar board or amp (and from there back to computer) in my case. Then I have an effected and dry signal recording simultaneously.
@@massivebeatzz excellent! Thank you so much for responding and giving me some guidance! I think this is probably the setup then that I need. I know the AxeFx has two individual outputs on the unit, but you have to do some weird routing on the AxeFx itself (creating an fx send block on your created guitar patch), and it seems like a hassle (to me at least). Whereas the DI box seems easier and has the added benefit of some other functions. I could be wrong, but that's how I'm interpreting what you and others have said. Again, thanks for the reply!
@@massivebeatzz sorry, to add to my last comment. Are you specifically using the Neve DI for yourself? Or was it just for this video? Thanks!!
Its literally the most basic thing that every interface has.
not quite "literally"- the saturation SSL 4K, 8 channel digital adat, and 2 high impedance (adjustable) headphone outputs, as well as the one button 360 software recall, make this quite well equipped.
So it’s really still only 4 inputs unless you connect an ADAT for an additional 8 inputs?
yep but 4 Mic Pres as well as DI inputs or Line - plus 8. More flexible than most, and fairly cheap.
@@massivebeatzz Agree. And the mic pres on these SSL interfaces sound excellent.
$199 (with Avid coupon) for the Mega XXL bundle and you keep 10 plugins! No brainer Love it
Nice!!
only thing i wish it had is auto on and off
after watching this video i went to buy it but can’t find any info on it! where did you buy it? what’s the whole thing called?
Sweetwater, Guitarcenter.com, Thomann, depending on where you are.
Maybe you should have split the signal before going though the Thru bypass of the RNDI, no? I'm wondering if in instrument mode, the signal is still processed within the unit (for impedance purpose)?
I don't think so - being the definition of True bypass means it is not affected. But if anyone else wants to chime in on this - please correct me :)
Why is every one selling the Apollo to buy this ?
I think they're selling the Apollo because the platform is too old, and prices didnt come down. Antelope seems on the surface like the modern replacement we need. But it isn't.
